THE onset
of digital certificates and e-commerce will bring digital
document recorders into the limelight of products to look
out for in the next millennium.
Canon
Marketing (M) Sdn Bhd Corporate Products Group (CPG) has gone
on a nationwide tour to introduce its range of digital printing
system, electronic filing system and video-imaging products
aimed at this market.
Among
the noteworthy products featured in the Canon Digitour during
its Ipoh stopover, was the CD4046 digital document which is
the world's first scanner cum CD recorder.
The CD4046
is a scanner with a CD-R drive and paper feed tray hooked
to a 6in colour panel display.
The compact
desktop filmless electronic filing system runs on Windows
95 and utilises simplex and duplex scanning technology. It
can scan up to 39 documents (at 300dpi) per minute.
Scanned
TIFF images can be displayed on the colour panel. Users can
store up to 650MB or 20,000 pages of information on a CD-R
disc.
Users
can enlarge, reduce, rotate, scroll pages and move entire
files just by a mouse click or through the keyboard. The display
panel also serves as the user interface to select scanning
modes and resolutions.
The CD4046
comes optional with an ED500 Endorser that prints dates, serial
numbers and stamps onto cheques and letter-sized documents.
Other
products include the Canomedia video-conferencing system,
