I'm Anita and I'd like to tell you a bit about myself. I dived headlong into my journalism career as a fresh social science graduate with a major in mass communication from the National University of Malaysia. I worked for local dailies the New Straits Times, Berita Harian and The Star where I covered everything from general news to fashion and spent an eventful time covering floods, bus strikes, bomb scares, plane crashes, collapsing buildings and bridges, and blackouts.

In 1989, I joined Asia Computer Weekly, a regional technology publication now owned by Miller Freeman, as the solo Malaysian correspondent. I covered daily technology news, features and profiles and also organized various events and seminars for the publication. During my four years at ACW, I also travelled to US, Mexico, China, Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore on various news assignments.

In 1993, I returned to the Star as coordinator for technology pull-out In.Tech and was responsible for liaising with staff of the publication, vendors and advertisers for advertising and marketing programs in addition to my writing duties. In my first year I assisted in raising almost a RM1 million worth of advertising for the pull-out and was promoted to Asst Editor the following year. In 1997, I decided to move to my hometown Ipoh with my husband and first born and continue contributing to In.Tech's education pages from there.

I left Star this year to pursue a freelance career and develop my own interests as well as play parent to my two young children Jordan, now four, and Andrea, two.

I currently write for Intelligent Enterprise Asia, a monthly publication of Miller Freeman and am involved in event management.
