SURESWARAN Ramadass, head of the Network Research Group at the School of Computer Sciences in Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), earned his Masters of Science in Electrical/Computer Engineering from the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida in 1990. He graduated with honours and is currently pursuing his PhD in Computer Science at USM. The 32-year-old is actively involved in the networking movement in the region. He is the head of Asia Pacific Advanced Networks (APAN) in Malaysia. APAN is the high bandwidth ATM network project aimed at interconnecting Asia Pacific countries. Sures is also heading A13 Malaysia, the Asian Internet Interconnections Initiative which is part of the Japanese WIDE project that involves the setting up of an earth station at each member country for communications. He is also heading the TEMAN project at USM. TEMAN is an ATM multimedia testbed network aimed at linking up local universities and telecommunications research facilities nationwide. Sures has also published and presented over 25 papers in relation to his research in networking and multimedia, at both international and local circuits. He is also collaborating with Computer Associates Inc, Mimos Bhd and Telekom Malaysia Bhd on several research projects. Published in In.Tech, Star Publications (M) Bhd. |
